Kelly and Sydney met in 2020. Sydney had just moved to Nelson, BC, with Kalhum and Zayd. Kelly was living next door, and his daughter Paityn loved poking her head out the window to see the baby (Zayd). Over the next few months, the three kids grew closer and closer. Sydney and Kelly, however, didn't care much for each other at first. A friendship formed, but if anyone knows Kelly, they will understand that only a few words were ever exchanged between them.

A few years later, Sydney and Kelly both moved. But the kids' bond had grown strong, and they loved each other. Whenever Kelly was driving with Paityn, she would always ask to see 'the boys'. Kelly, although shy, would stop by once in a while so the kids could play. Sydney, being far from shy, would strike up conversations with Kelly, getting to know him better during those brief visits. The visits became longer, eventually turning into late-night phone calls and good-morning text messages.

Sydney and Kelly shared mutual friends, and one evening, they all decided to have a BBQ together. Kelly asked their friends to watch the kids so he could take Sydney for a ride in his new truck. Kelly took Sydney around town and down to the boat launch. He put on his favourite country playlist and, when the moment was right, leaned in for their first kiss. It was in this moment that Kelly knew this was his bride-to-be. Their love grew fast, and it became undeniable; this is forever.
